On March 8, 2024, the Bank of Slovenia announced a public anonymous competition for the design of artistic solutions for commemorative coins issued in 2025. The call was published in the announcement section of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, no. 19/24, and on the websites of the Bank of Slovenia. By the end of the competition on April 22, 2024, 33 artistic solutions for the commemorative coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of Miki Mustar’s birth had arrived.
The commission for the issue of commemorative coins, appointed by the Bank of Slovenia and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia, has decided that the following prizes will be awarded for the commemorative coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miki Muster redeem:
- purchase in the amount of €4,000 for an artistic solution with code 9761 – author: Robert Žvokelj;
- purchase in the amount of €2,000 for an artistic solution with the code “IZVEN OKVIRJA” – author: Daniela Vidmar Podboj and Tomaž Podboj;
- purchase in the amount of €1,300 for an art solution with code 7428 – author: Edi Berk.
The winning character solution with the code 9761 builds a new relationship between characters and successfully incorporates it into the form of a coin. The characters address the viewer in a coherent way and almost “come alive” with the use of soft relief. The typographical solution is also appropriate, and above all readable.
